Special collection for the 2023 UNC Water and Health Conference: Science, Policy and Practice

We are pleased to announce that PLOS is partnering with the 2023 UNC Water & Health Conference, taking place on October 23-27^th, to publish a collection of articles in PLOS Water and PLOS Sustainability and Transformation. The collection will feature papers from the research presented at the conference, across the breadth of WaSH research, to highlight challenges, share insights, and develop solutions for a more water-secure world.

Our shared mission is rooted in removing barriers and providing equitable avenues to publication and access to quality research that has the potential to accelerate progress towards urgent global challenges. Sharing this timely research openly creates opportunities to put it in the hands of those researchers who can build upon it and the practitioners and policymakers who have the ability to effect change in expansion of WaSH access and services at local and global scales.

Submissions are open now until the end of the year. If your manuscript is not yet ready for publication, consider attending our workshop on writing and publishing at the conference, co-hosted by UNC and PLOS – more details here. 

Authors will also have the benefit of our integrated submission relationship with EarthArXiv, which allows them the option to automatically forward their manuscript to the EarthArXiv preprint server directly from our submission system, sharing their work as soon as they are ready.

For all authors invited to submit as a conference presenter, please quote “UNC Water & Health” in the Collections field when submitting your manuscript and mention the collection in your cover letter.
